Lobuche East is an attractive summit with existing routes and new opportunities. Lobuche East is one of the hardest of the trekking peaks that commercial groups sttempt. In the Everest region (Khumbu) only Kwangde and Kusum Kanguru are more difficult. Base camp is near a hidden lake at the base of the South-West face at 5,551m.
